We all dream of an inspiring modern workspace that encourages work and creation. Space where we can be productive and enjoy what we do. Uniquely, this is what Edge Innovation Center offers. It’s a modern flexible co-working space in Giza, Galleria 40. Moreover, the center is designed to help entrepreneurs and startups work their magic.
YLAB Arquitectos designed this project in the brand-new business complex. It’s a Spanish-German architectural design firm by Tobias Laarmann and Yolanda Yuste. YLAB’s main work involves designing, management and construction of architecture and interior design projects.
Interior & Circulation
What’s special about Edge innovation Center is its open plan that offers flexibility and visual connection. To clarify, the circulation goes around three main central volumes. These volumes got unique curved and sculptural shape. On the other hand, it feels good working in the offices that are all along the façade. They are separated with glass partitions for open and easy communication.
The total area of the co-working space is 1.500 m2. It includes reception area, a large conference hall, meeting rooms, seven flexible training rooms and a boardroom. This is besides modern offices in different sizes and co-working areas. Also, there are services such as a cafeteria, lounge areas and a shop.
Materiality & Finishes
Main materials include ivory white and natural tinted elm wood as its base. Moreover, the polished capri natural limestone adds its special essence to the space. Furthermore, the ceiling finishing includes metal ceiling panel system. It also has wooden slats wood ceiling system by Hunter Douglas. In addition to a vaulted convex suspended ceiling by Knauf and mirror cladding.
Flooring finishing has natural protected limestone Capri by Levantina and dark grey carpet tile Una Micro Ecotrust by Ege. As for the furnishing, the space has custom-made wood furniture. Additionally, pieces like the reception desk, the office partitions or the cafeteria furniture have graphite colored accents.
Significantly the role of the architect goes beyond the technicalities of construction. Certainly, a good design cares about the users and considers their comfort. In addition, an efficient working space inspires the users to reach their maximum potential. Gladly there are more projects that are consumer friendly.
